History
The Bahamas Hyperbaric Centre Ltd. opened its doors to the diving community of Bahamas in 1996.
It started its operations with 6 dive centers and now has 8 affiliated dive
operators.
To date, the Bahamas chamber has treated over 88 dive injuries which could have
resulted in the patient dying or being permanently paralyzed if the chamber
had not existed.
The chamber has also treated 14 (HBOT) Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy cases. These include local and international tourists and a few employees of the various dive
operations.
(SSSB) has been improving its standards of service to the dive community of Bahamas. It is the only active Recompression chamber in the region that is
open to the public. SSSB is a clinic specializing in Subaquatic Medicine, it is a Divers Alert Network (DAN) referral center and Platinum DAN sponsor; it
also forms part of the Undersea Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS).
